ABOUT US
We create social spaces where people
Blanc Space designs sensory, interactive play experiences for the world's busiest public spaces. From shopping centres to airports and healthcare environments. Every piece we make is built from a simple belief: the spaces where families wait, gather, and pause deserve the same design care as anywhere else.
CIRCULAR BY DESIGN
Blanc Space installations are built from recycled and post-consumer plastics, reformed and reshaped into vibrant, durable play environments. Our Jungle Play installation alone diverted over a tonne of post-consumer waste from landfill, using 50% recycled materials while remaining 96% recyclable. Meaning our spaces can be installed, de-installed, recycled, and reinstalled, cradle to cradle.
This isn't sustainability bolted on as an afterthought. It's the starting point of how we design: taking materials that would otherwise be waste. Milk bottles, shampoo bottles, recycled rubber flooring and turning them into commercially credible, design-award-winning social spaces.

BUILT TO LAST, BUILT FOR PUBLIC SPACES
Every product in our range is designed for continuous, high-traffic public environments, not a domestic playroom. That means durable, wipeable, low-maintenance finishes that hold up to constant use in shopping centres, airport terminals, and healthcare facilities, without compromising on the sculptural, design-led aesthetic that sets Blanc Space apart from a standard playground supplier.
DESIGNED FOR THE SENSES
Every Blanc Space installation is grounded in sensory design principles. Built to support play, self-regulation, and early development for children of all abilities, not just neurotypical play patterns. Rather than relying on screens or high-tech stimulation, our approach uses light, sound, tactile materials, and considered spatial design to create experiences that calm as often as they excite.
This is deliberate.
A space that overstimulates fails the people who need it most. Anxious children in a waiting room, overwhelmed families at a busy terminal, or overtired kids at the end of a shopping trip.
Our sensory range gives children an outlet that's engaging without being chaotic, and gives the adults with them a genuine moment to pause.

ABOUT JAMES BEST, FOUNDER & CEO
Blanc Space was founded by James Best, whose path into sensory design came from an unusual mix of backgrounds. Early exposure to both hands-on hospitality and high-tech manufacturing shaped a founder more interested in materials, texture, and craft than screens.
Under his direction, Blanc Space has grown from its early shopping centre work in Australia into partnerships with major operators including Westfield, Vicinity, Dexus, Stockland, and QIC and expanded back into the US with new projects for Simon Property Group.
As Best puts it, the vision extends well beyond shopping centres:
"It's about creating social spaces where people can play, recharge and relax."
Hospitals, airports, and hospitality venues are the next frontier.
RECOGNITION
Blanc Space's work has been recognised with multiple Good Design Award wins, including for our FORM play-inspired modular furniture range (Architectural Design – Installation Design category) and for Jungle Play, our sensory playground built from over 50% recycled materials.
Blanc Space was also featured in Forbes Australia, profiling the company's shift from milk bottles to immersive play spaces across Australian and US malls.
