SENSORY PLAY POD
WARRIEWOOD SQUARE
April 2026
Warriewood, NSW, AUS
The Sensory Play Pod at Warriewood Square was conceived as a calming, high‑value family moment within one of the Northern Beaches’ busiest neighbourhood centres. Designed as a secondary play space to complement the centre’s main precinct, Blanc Space was engaged to deliver a compact playscape that supports early childhood regulation, offers a dedicated zone for babies and toddlers, and elevates the centre’s family experience within a small but highly functional footprint.
Design Intent
Our approach centred on three pillars: sensory regulation, early movement, and tactile discovery. The pod blends soft climbing elements, interactive sensory panels, and gentle lighting to create an environment that feels both soothing and engaging for the youngest visitors.
Every detail — from the recycled materials to the sculptural forms and layered textures — was designed to encourage curiosity, support developmental play, and provide a safe, welcoming space for families. The design intentionally blurs the line between play, comfort, and sensory support, transforming a compact corner of the centre into a purposeful early‑years destination.
Impact
Since opening, the Sensory Play Pod has quickly become a go‑to spot for families with babies and toddlers — a place to pause, reset, and connect. As a secondary play space, it complements the main play precinct by offering a quieter, more contained environment tailored to younger children’s needs.
The pod has enhanced the centre’s family offering, increased dwell time for nearby retailers, and demonstrated how thoughtful design can deliver meaningful community impact even within a small footprint.

Blanc Space creates Sensory Social Spaces designed for inclusion, function, safety, and sustainability — with the Warriewood Sensory Play Pod reflecting this philosophy at a smaller, early‑years scale.
Inspiration: Warriewood’s coastal wetlands, soft dune forms, and the organic curves echoed in the centre’s main play space. Interpreted through gentle geometry, natural tones, and a sensory‑first approach for early‑years play
